What you see here is a tiny crystal of spessartine (a species of garnet) from a stone coming from Gilgit valley, Pakistan.
Dimensions: 4*3*3mm
Equipment used on the EOS Rebel T3: a tripod, macro extension tubes (all three), and a concept screwed on the 18-55mm lens to get this extreme macro.
I managed to set an aperture of F/11 despite the lens being disconnected, so I think the DoF remains acceptable.
Natural light.
Of course, a long exposure time was required...
